About This Project
The Preserve is a housing development built on the 400-acre site of a former farm. This ambitious project includes 1,200 home sites, a community clubhouse with a pool and fitness center, a trail system that connects to the greenway, several dog parks and pocket parks, and a community garden.
Southern Site’s work in the first phase of the project includes the first 120 housing pads, two two-acre ponds, three miles of offsite sewer, onsite sewer, onsite water main, storm drain, and underground electric.
Challenges and Unique Features
A major complicating factor on this project is that the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation is only allowing us to work on 50 acres at a time — the phase one portion of the site is 70 acres, and the full site is 400 acres.
Additionally, with so many houses in a relatively small amount of acreage, we will need to install utilities in a tight area. With multiple utility crews working at the same time, we need to take great care to stay out of each other’s way and avoid stepping on each other’s toes.
Our Approach
We landed the contract for this project in January 2020, and we expect to complete our work in 2030, with the completion of phase one targeted for June 2021. Southern Site crews are working 13-hour days, six days a week to make sure we stay ahead of schedule at The Preserve.
