About This Project

General Overview

Project Pearl involves the construction of an industrial warehouse and delivery facility in Rockford, Tennessee. Southern Site’s core responsibilities on this project include earthwork, site utilities, asphalt and concrete paving, and slab-on-grade foundations.

Challenges and Unique Features

The sheer size of this project is a unique challenge in itself. Due to the large job site and various responsibilities we have on Project Pearl, teamwork and communication are vital to our success. Having multiple crews on the ground simultaneously requires excellent coordination and a constant focus on safety.

In addition, our work at Project Pearl began during the wet winter season, which adds some complications. We needed to use soil cement stabilization and lime kiln dust for drying purposes to maintain the appropriate level of compaction and stay on schedule.

Results

This project is still ongoing, but the client is pleased with our efforts thus far, and they have engaged Southern Site Contractors in other similar local projects. We would like to thank all team members, foremen, superintendents, and safety administrators for their hard work and dedication to this project. There were many seven-day workweeks during the first three months, without which we would not have achieved our goals.

All told, we expect to install roughly 20,289 linear feet of storm utilities, 3,950 LF of sanitary sewer, and 10,685 LF of water lines. In addition, we will install a total of 273,178 SF of heavy-duty concrete paving and 65,358 tons of asphalt paving.
