Q: What has your experience with Southern Site Contractors been like so far?
A: I started here in 2018. The managers are especially great. They’re really good at working with you. I genuinely like working here. There’s a lot of camaraderie here. On a rainy day — we call them 20-pound boot days, because we go out in the mud and your boots are just caked full of mud — we’re all kind of wet and miserable, but it’s okay because we’re all together and we’re joking around. I also like being able to go somewhere new every day, and I love seeing a project go from start to finish.
Q: What do you look forward to in your career here? What are you hoping to do?
A: There’s a lot of potential in this company. Within a year or two, I’d like to see myself grow out of the position I’m currently in. I’d like to take on more responsibility. I think it would be cool to be a project manager — maybe start as an assistant project manager and go from there.
Q: What is it like working for Ryan?
A: Ryan does a good job of making everyone feel comfortable. He says the hard things when he has to, but he’s never a jerk about it. In other companies I’ve worked in, I think that a lot of times people don’t quit their jobs, they quit their manager. Ryan has done a good job of managing people, and understanding how that dynamic works.
